Australia: “Musicians turn to live stream gigs to survive corona crisis”
A Melbourne musician is hoping paid live streams could help performers salvage some of the income lost to the coronavirus crisis.
Michael MacManus has had to cancel his Melbourne Guitar Festival, axing over 60 planned concerts and losing “hundreds of thousands” in potential revenue.
Instead he will charge for live streams of concerts, starting with guitar duo Boilermaker (Ben Dix and Dan McKay) tomorrow night at melbourneguitarfestival.com.
