Australia: ”Nightclubs, parties and FINALLY a return to stand-up drinking – here’s what you need to know about NSW’s relaxing of Covid-19 restrictions for festive season”

New South Wales will ease some of its strictest social distancing rules just in time for the festive season.

From Monday, nightclubs can reopen with up to 50 people allowed on the dance floor at any one time, Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.

Stand-up drinking will be allowed once again, but only in outdoor settings including beer gardens and roof bars.

Revellers in pubs and bars will have to stay seated at indoor venues.

Capacity at restaurants, bars, churches and cafes will double next week, with the restrictive 4-square-metre rule replaced with the 2-square-metre rule.

‘From Monday, life will be very different in NSW,’ Ms Berejiklian said.

This will be the first time since March 23 that millions of Australians living in NSW can enjoy a dance or a stand-up drink.
